I've seen a few people do this, so lets give it a shot! And hey you passersby, why don't you also give it a shot! Someone may like what they see! Post your work, but no more than four, in this journal!

TALES: Origins Part 1
"Gather 'round, children, gather 'round," the brown bat said to the many, many children that were already crowding around the fire that illuminated this section of the cave. Most had dropped down from the ceiling, while the rest were those already anticipating the impending event. It was story time for these little tykes, as it always was when dawn rolled around. The earliest ones took the best seats on the rocks while the ones in back didn't hesitate to push their way closer. The fire was one of many scattered throughout the cave system that housed hundreds of these brown bats. The speaker was sitting on a small rock that elevated him above the pile of children, whose bright smiling faces were lit by the flames.
A newly adult bat lying against the rocks near the fire groaned as the kids gathered around the speaker to hear their nightly story. She had been using the light from the fire to read her book, and this particular spot was one of the bet

EvacuationI still remember the news stories that appeared on the television. A lot of people, a lot of 'specialists', made outrageous claims as to how to survive this pandemic: "Go north," they would say; "Go to your church. They can't go there," some had said; "Every man for himself. Trust no one," one had said; "Stop going outside and wait for the military to clean this mess up in a week," a few would say. Well, at least that last one had some truth to it.
Two of the options the government had laid forth to people were to either board up your home or head to the nearest emergency evacuation center. The latter is what I chose to do.
I lived in an apartment complex at the time. It was one of five white three-story buildings in the Creekside Apartment complex. I just had a single bedroom apartment. It was really cheap; just $200 for the one bed, kitchen, living room, and dining room apartment. I was single at the time and had only been living there for a few months.

Backdrop Short     “Maybe I’ll sleep on my grave tonight.”
The words were softly spoken more as a statement than a question in a tone only suitable to be whispered into the ear of a loved one. A single flame danced from the candle placed elegantly atop the crescent-carved tombstone, it’s light illuminating the soft face of a man lying on the hardened earth of the recently filled grave. The sky was free of a single cloud that might have spelled depression in the man’s mind. The stars in the sky bared no oppression of offending light that would dare hide its elegance and mystic guise. It was all for the better in his fleeting and subjugated mind, disdained from reality. The stars were a gateway to another dimension, a dimension of dreams.
“Maybe I’ll leave this dismal city.”
The graveyard bore no demons or ghouls, merely a chapel to say goodbye. The

Operation Ado II. Warm Greetings
0000 Hours, June 23, 3043 (military calendar) // Moodrig System, near planet Durris's moon; Ado //
The blue dot of an Imperial Guard hyperspace gate appeared near the moon of Ado. It expanded outward until it was a rectangle over seven hundred meters high and a little over six hundred meters wide. It was only two meters in depth though, and its flat side was a bright blue wall. Two other blue dots appeared near the first one, and both formed into different sized rectangular walls as well.
Each burning blue wall shifted back with no apparent form of locomotion whatsoever. Black ships each appeared out of these blue walls. The first one, the IGS Unnatural Disaster was the largest of the three, easily reaching a length of 1.77 kilometers. The IGS Reunion was the second largest, just reaching 1.6 kilometers. The two dwarfed the third ship, the IGS Golden Savior, only reaching two hundred sixt
